About the Roing Valley, Arunachal Pradesh

The Organic Tea Estate located in the Roing Valley, in Arunachal Pradesh, India, is a picture of calm serenity swathed in a sea of bright forest green as the tea bushes wait patiently to reveal their secrets. It is lodged in the easternmost part of the country, on the foothills of the Himalayas, overlooking the snow-clad peaks which look down on the mighty Brahmaputra River, known in the ancient Indian scriptures as the Gandharvanagri. It was sheer synchronicity (with perhaps a little sprinkle of fate) that led Binod, the owner of the estate to meet Swami Valmiki Srinivasa Ayangarya from Karnataka who introduced him to the methods of Vrikshayurveda. Mr. Binod, in turn, implemented the methods and techniques that he learnt on his Tea Estate in Roing Valley. Vrikshayurveda, the Vedic farming is based on the teachings of ancient Hindu scriptures or Vedas. It was authored by Surapala and contains various topics related to the science of plants, including planting, selection of soil, watering, fertilizing, methods to deal with diseases and a lot more. The Himalayan garden uses a mini thatch and bamboo factory for processing tea leaves. The freshly plucked leaves are oxidized in an open area where fresh oxygen-filled air comes in from the Himalayas. Thus the fresh Himalayan air contributes to making the flavor of Roing’s Black Tea, Green Tea and CTC (also known as Chai) so distinctive.
